One in Eight

According to the American Cancer Association, breast cancer ranks #1 in estimated new cases of all cancers diagnosed in America. This equates to 1 in 8 women being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Each weekend when the Washington-Grizzly Stadium fills up, that equals over 3,000 people affected with this disease. With your help we can raise awareness and funding for this very important cause.

Get in the Game: February 13, 2010
7 P.M. at The University of Montana Adams Center

Join Team Up Montana and Lady Griz to raise breast cancer awareness and prevention at our next Team Up Montana event taking place on February 13, at the Lady Griz game against Eastern Washington, 7 P.M. at the Adams Center.

Women who receive a mammogram between the dates of February  1 - 12, 2010 at St. Patrick Hospital will be granted free entrance into the game, receive a pink shirt at that time and sit with others joining the fight against breast cancer in a special "pink zone".

A pre-game ceremony at the center court will acknowledge breast cancer survivors. Donations will be accepted at tables by the ticket windows in the Adams Center. Pink shirts will also be sold February 13 prior to the game, all proceeds from shirt sales and donations go to the St. Patrick Hospital Foundation Cancer Compassion Fund - helping Montanans suffering from breast cancer.

Donations from 2009 Team Up Montana events allowed St. Patrick Hospital and Health Sciences Foundation to pledge $10,000 in the form of screening mammograms vouchers distributed to primary care providers in Missoula. Throughout 2010, any uninsured or underinsured woman unable to afford a screening mammogram will be given a voucher by her primary care providers. Vouchers cover the entire cost of a screening mammogram and will be accepted at St. Patrick Hospital. Any woman without a primary care provider can call Partnership Health Center at 406.258.4789 for a St. Patrick Hospital referral and voucher.

The donations raised to fund these types of preventive programs were from individuals like you. A small donation can go a long way in the fight against breast cancer.

Our goal is to bring relief to Montanans suffering from cancer. Please join us in that goal by showing your support at the Lady Griz basketball game on February 13.
